Little Sophia is an independent, not-for-profit, inner-city Steiner kindergarten based in Abbotsford, Melbourne. We aim to provide a nurturing early childhood environment that nourishes the whole child and fosters imaginative play as a foundation for lifelong learning. Special care is given to create a playspace that is beautiful, unhurried and secure.
Our kindergarten is a warm, protective space stimulated by creative play, storytelling, singing, baking, paints and colour. Children at Little Sophia are surrounded by caring people and treasures from nature, to help develop an appreciation, respect and care for our world.
Little Sophia runs family Playgroups for children from birth to 3.5 years of age and kindergarten programs within a long daycare setting, with high staff-child ratios, for children 3 to 6 years of age.

Every 4 years the Department of Education carries out an Assessment & Rating visit of childcare centres and kindergartens in Australia.
Little Sophia has been assessed under the Government’s new National Quality Standard and have been given an overall rating of EXCEEDING National Quality Standard. We rated exceeding in all 7 quality areas.

Enrolment Applications
We currently have a limited number of places available for 2019. Please enquire if you are interested. Applications for 2020 and beyond are welcome.
Kinder Tours
Kindergarten tours are available upon request. Information will be provided on the different programs available at Little Sophia and you will be shown the beautiful rooms. There will also be an opportunity to discuss specific questions with a member of staff.
